About this part
This 1/135 scale Convair 990 Coronado comes from the Revell tooling. It has all new box art and NASA decals by Starfighter Decals, with box art by Rusty Cowart. The injector pins run a bit short on this form, so they have to be shimmed up. The kit has no clear parts, but a swivel stand is included. The fuselage slot must be fully cut out to take the mounting ball. The Coronado was the first airliner built to fly at near-sonic speeds, and the fastest commercial airliner of its time. Four General Electric CJ805-23 aft-fan jets, each rated at 16,100 pounds of thrust, gave it a cruise of Mach .85 at 35,000 feet. It spanned 120 feet and ran 139 feet 2.4 inches long. It carried 96 first class passengers four abreast, or 121 coach passengers five abreast. Landing speeds matched those of the space shuttle.
