About this part
The Avro Lancaster was one of the RAF's main heavy bombers in WWII. Two versions became legends: the Mk.III 'Dambuster' and the Mk.I 'Grand Slam Bomber.' The Dambuster was modified to hit German dams. It carried special bouncing bombs that skipped across the water to the dam wall, then exploded beneath the surface to cause structural damage. The Grand Slam Bomber was built to carry the 10-ton Grand Slam earthquake bomb, and its bomb bay doors and dorsal machine guns were removed to save weight. These Lancasters used the Grand Slam on targets such as U-boat bases and rocket manufacturing sites. This 1/48 kit captures the detail of both famous WWII planes.
