A 1/48 scale kit of the US Light Tank M5A1 Stuart. The M5A1 succeeded the M3 Stuart, America's first major mass-produced light tank. Twin V8 gas engines got it up to 58km/h. It kept the M3 turret but used a welded hull with sloped frontal armor and a rear engine deck. Later M5A1s got a new turret with a 37mm gun, bigger hatches, rails for track grousers and a 7.62mm machine gun mount. Around 6,800 were built. They debuted in North Africa, then went to the Italian and Western fronts in 1943 and 1944, where their mobility made them useful for recon and other roles. 1/48 scale plastic model kit. Length 94mm, width 48mm. Turret with 37mm gun shows realistic track grousers and 7.62mm machine gun. Lower hull parts come from Item 32604 (1/48 U.S. Howitzer Motor Carriage M8). Front, upper hull and turret parts are newly molded. Welded seams and the cast gun shield surface are depicted realistically. Fits general hobby plastic models.
