About this part
1/400 scale Boeing SST transport with Boeing markings. Molded in white, with decals for Boeing 2700-200 and Pan American. Measures 9.50 inches long with display stand. Officially licensed with Boeing. The Boeing 2707 was an American supersonic airliner project from the 1960s. Boeing won the government contract to build it. It was a big plane, seating 250 to 300 passengers and cruising around Mach 3. It was meant to outrun and outsize rival SSTs like the Concorde. The whole SST idea got slammed in the press over sonic booms and ozone damage. The 2707 used a swing wing design. Rising costs and no clear market killed it in 1971, before the prototypes were finished. Fits: general hobby plastic models.
