Extra Coarse Brown Talus. Mix grades and colors for realism. Color with Earth Colors liquid pigment. Build rock piles and slides, or model blasting areas. 21.6 in3 (353 cm3) BALLAST VS. TALUS: Ballast is placed along the track to model the stuff that holds rail in place. Talus is the rock debris you find under outcroppings, on rocky hillsides and along embankments. MAKING SAND: Seal fine talus in a plastic bag. On a safe surface, tap it with a hammer until you hit the consistency you want. Color it with Earth Colors Liquid Pigment to get sand.
